What is it?
Digital pen and paper technology consists of three main components: a pen that looks just like a regular ballpoint pen, but contains a camera inside, a unique, nearly invisible dot pattern printed on regular paper and a system that processes the data. As you write, the pen records and stores what is written on the paper. When the pen is docked to a PC, the handwritten data is uploaded to the system where it can be processed, including handwriting recognition, and then further integrated with your current system in a variety of ways.

Your need for development skills is minimal. You are not required to change or amend the behavior of any of the users – just the type of pen and paper they use. It’s simple, efficient, fast and convenient.

With this solution, the time-consuming manual steps in a traditional forms process are removed; instead, the forms process is automated. It also offers traceability as all information from the pen automatically includes time, pen user identity, and the exact print-out of the form used.
The forms can be printed in the same way as in a traditional forms management process. Data is then captured using pen and paper. The pen stores several days of information and has a long-lasting battery which enables long working periods without access to power supply.
When a form has been filled in, it can be transferred from the pen, via a PC or a mobile phone, directly to the system. This makes it possible to instantly verify data while on the job, to ensure accuracy and quality of service, and also for the user to instantly get feedback from the system.
As the data from the pen is sent directly to the system, no manual data entry is needed. Software for translation of the handwritten text into machine-readable characters is part of the solution, and the form solution offers a simple integration with any existing customer system.
